Our History

It started about 20 years ago when I along with some friends and family were asked to cater a BBQ for a small construction company.  The menu consisted of BBQ ribs and chicken, a mixture I have perfected over the years.  I wanted to add my own special flavor, so with some creative thinking and much experimentation Pop’s dry rub was born.  To this day BBQ ribs with the rub is one of my family’s favorite meals.

Initially known as Dale’s rub it wasn’t until my youngest son’s high school and college days brought about the Pop’s. Having been rooted in the game of baseball as a child and a coach of my own children, sunflower seeds have always been around.  I would mix up every flavor of sunflower seeds, add a very healthy portion of the rub, and mix it all up.  As soon as I hit the field I would hear ‘hey coach or hey Pops, did you bring your seeds?’  Ever since then name stuck and I’m proud to have it. To this day the high school and college kids still call and email asking if I’ve started selling the rub yet, sprinkling in a request for a large portion of the rub.  I’ve been mixing, sharing and using my rub ever since, hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we all do!
